Come To Me Quietly was the first book I'd read by AL Jackson, but most certainly not the last! Her writing style was a little different than what I was used to, but God did I love it! She has a way of making you feel so deeply with her words. They grab a hold of you and don't let go, they leave you begging for more.
Jared and Aly's story touched me all the way through to my soul. I felt their heartbreak, when there was heartbreak, their joy, when there was joy, and their love all throughout.
Jared is a troubled man, unable to see through his pain. He feels he should suffer for things that have happened that he really had no control over, but is too blind with rage and self-hate to see it.
Aly is an amazing young woman, who has loved this man her whole life (even when she was a little girl and he was just a boy), but never dared to let anyone in on her secret, especially when they were children. Jared took off at the tender age of 18, she was hurt, heart-broken, and has always felt something missing.
When Jared finally comes back home years later and they come face to face, neither one knows what hit them. Aly is immediately flooded with all those feelings she's kept hidden for so long, and Jared is thrown for a loop when he discovers he has feelings for this beautiful girl. Although he does not believe he is worthy of this girl who is so good, the light, when he is so bad, and dark. He feels undeserving of love and happiness and does not think he's allowed it. And this is where their real story starts...
This book totally unraveled me. It tore me open and put me back together, but I still feel like a piece of me is missing. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I don't think I'll be whole again until their story is finished!
